PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE - |
|
Dear Kindergarten Parents,
Welcome to Schroeder. I am delighted that your child is coming to our school. Our kindergarten and preppie kindergarten programs are outstanding and you will be impressed with student growth as your child completes his/her kindergarten year. Kindergartners do mature quickly. I have an open door policy with all parents. If you have a concern or question please do not hesitate to ask. There will be a kindergarten meet and greet on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 3:30 PM at Schroeder. At that time, you will have an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, see the classroom, and ask questions. The first day of school is Wednesday, September 7, 2011, from 8:15 – 1:25. Our kindergarten schedule is 8:30 – 2:35 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Our Wednesday and modified day schedule is 8:15 – 1:25. Children will have a 20 minute recess and 50 minute lunch every day. PE is usually scheduled in the afternoons to give children a chance to move around and be active. Parent participation is strong at Schroeder. We believe that parent involvement is crucial to student success. I encourage you to get involved with our PTA, volunteer in the classroom, or serve on the School Site Council. Being an active participant in our school helps you and your child build community with us! I am looking forward to meeting each and every one of you on September 6th. Again, welcome to Schroeder.
Sincerely,
Kim Breckenridge Principal |

Cartridges 4 Kids!
Cartridges for Kids is a year-round recycling program that pays Schroeder CA$H for empty inkjet, laser cartridges, used cell phones, laptops, PDA's, iPods, DVD's, Digital Cameras, Video Games and Consoles! The collection box is located in the office. It's easy to turn your trash into CA$H! The money that is earned as a result of this recycling program helps with student programs, student activities, etc.
Thank you in advance for your support!

Schroeder Pick-up and Drop-off Procedures
Based on the results of our parent survey, student safety remains a concern, especially during student pick-up and drop-off times. As we start the 2011-2012 school year, we will implement some new safety procedures. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated during this time of transition.
General Plan: 1. We will have 2 lanes of traffic. The outside lane, marked #2 below, is drive through only. Please stop at the stop sign at the cross walk to allow families to walk to the parking lot. 2. Lane #1 is for pick-up and drop-off only. There will be no parking or waiting for children to get out. Please pull all the way forward, stop, and load/unload your child. 3. Children will enter and exit cars on the right (passenger) side only. This is the exit closest to the curb. 4. If a child is not prepared to enter/exit the vehicle by the time it reaches the loading zone, the driver will continue out of the driveway and may circle around and reenter the parking lot. 5. Remember red curbs are no parking or stopping zones. 6. The semicircular driveway is for buses only. Do no drive through or park in the driveway.

THREE FOR ME PROGRAM We are very excited to continue our “Three for Me Program”. This is a PTA sponsored program that recognizes the efforts of our volunteers. As three hours of volunteering are completed, your name will be put on the MPR window as one of our “Shining Stars” and your child’s name will be featured in the monthly newsletter (each child will only be listed once). These hours can be completed many different ways: helping in the classroom, taking home projects from teachers, copying, helping with guided reading or other school programs, assisting with PTA events, baking for hospitality and so much more. All you have to do is volunteer three hours and make sure you sign in and out in the volunteer book located in the front office. Thank you for all of your help in making Schroeder the absolute Best!
